Coaches'
Dinner Next Tuesday
The fall athletic
season will be officially ushered in at Los Banos next Tuesday evening when all
high school coaches in the county will be honored guests of the three Los Banos
service club-20-30, Lions and Rotary-at the second annual Coaches' Night Dinner.
The affair, primarily sponsored by the 20-30 Club with the close cooperation of
the other two groups, will be held at the D.E.S. Hall, with dinner served at 8:00
o'clock. Frank Bandoni, who has gained an enviable reputation. As chef at local
Eagle functions, will serve the sumptuous dinner of roast beef, spaghetti and
accompanying dishes.
All high school coaches in the county, together with
their assistance, have been invited and each will be called upon for a few brief
words before the speaker of the evening is introduced. A last minute cancellation
of previous plans sent Sid Smith to San Jose yesterday morning with a "do-or-die"
order to secure a prominent football personality from Santa Clara University for
the occasion. Smith said he would not return home until he got results-which means
that a capable speaker is assured. Several reels of college football pictures
will also be shown, featuring the sensational All-American half-back from St.
Marys-Herman Wedemeyer.
