1350 Kiddies Attend Santa Claus Party
Thirteen hundred fifty kiddies trooped into the Del Rio Theatre here Tuesday for two Christmas parties, under the sponsorship of the Rotary and Lions Club and the Crest Theatre.
The gals Yuletide program is an annual event for the kiddies of the community, and for the parties this week, there was plenty of candy. The movies featured a Western picture with lots of cartoons.
Santa Claus was on hand to pass out the treats, with D. E. (Kelly) Bambauer in charge of this share of the program.
The Lions and Rotary Clubs provided sacks of candy for each child, and the Fresno Bee added a candy cane to the treat.
To accommodate the great number of children expected for the yearly party, a morning and afternoon performance were scheduled. The kiddies were very well behaved, according to party workers.
Much credit for the success of the affair goes to theatre manager Mrs. Frank J. Silva, Jr., popularly known as "Benny" to the local theatre-goers, and her staff of Miss. Evelyn Spadafore and Miss Shirley Hendricks. Sam Benidettino also assisted.
Charles Bates and Joseph Vajretti of Rotary and Lions Clubs, respectively, were co-chairmen of the program, and they were assisted by club members.
