Football Dinner At Gustine
The annual Gustine-Los Banos Rotary Clubs' football dinner was held at Gustine Monday evening with the Gustine club being host to the football squads of the Los Banos and Gustine high schools.
Acting President Gene Rowley of Gustine acted as toastmaster and inflicted the usual "tea can" penalties, which were reserved for members of the Gustine Rotary. L. J. Spindt, principal of the Los Banos high school, spoke briefly, commenting on the excellent sports relationship between the two schools, and stressing the importance of good sportsmanship in inter-school athletic competition.
Coach Carlyle Loftin personally introduced the members of the Los Banos grid squad, and the Gustine coach, Gene Ridley, introduced the members of the Gustine squad.
Two football films were shown, one explaining the rules and regulations governing high school games, the other featuring the outstanding plays of recent college games.
