Post Office Honors Rotary International
The U.S. Post Office Department has announced that a new 8c stamp honoring the 50th anniversary of the founding of Rotary International was issued through the Chicago, Ill., post office February 23.
The new stamp is blue and has as its basic design a globe, symbolizing the world-wide scope of Rotary International. To the left of the globe is a flaming torch held aloft by a hand and arm, carrying enlightment to all parts of the world. In the lower right corner of the stamp superimposed on the globe, is the emblem of Rotary International.
The new stamp will be available at the local post office for collectors, and other interested persons, about March 2, according to Postmaster Rocco V. Pernetti. Pernetti invites all persons interested in stamp collecting to avail themselves of the opportunity to add to their collections by calling at the post office. The Los Banos office receives a supply of all new stamps issued.
