Rodney Siemiller Tells Of Arabia
Rodney Siemiller, a former Los Banosan who has been employed with the Arabian-American Oil Co, at Saudi Arabia, for the past four years, provided a very interesting program at the Rotary Club luncheon Tuesday, with a talk and showing of colored slides of the country and people in the area where he is working.
Describing his work there, he said company personnel have nice, air conditioned homes, good elementary schools for their children, and live comfortably despite the 120 degree summer weather. The nearby gulf waters provide fishing sport, though the 90 to 96 degree water temperature in the summertime discourages swimming.
Of the native people, Siemiller said many are trustworthy and dependable, however, they live under primitive conditions, and many work only enough for an occasional grub stake and spend the remainder of their time on the desert.
Siemiller, with his wife and daughter, are spending the month here, visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Siemiller and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Post.
