Rotary Club Will Be Santa Claus To Youngsters At Theatre Parties
A good time is in store for Los Banos area children at two movie parties at the Crest Theatre being sponsored Saturday by the local Rotary Club.
The parties are being given for all pupils of this city and rural elementary schools with the first to start at 9:15 a.m. and the last at 11:15.
Mrs. Frank J. (Benny) Silva Jr., theatre manager, said each show will last one hour and she promises the films will be laugh provoking and full of fun.
Five cartoons, and a Technicolor feature, "Who's Who At the Zoo," will make up the program. The latter film is an interesting tour of a big city zoo and will be especially enjoyable for the youngsters, Mrs. Silva said.
Tickets are being divided as evenly as possible so that there will be ample seating at each party. The show time is on each ticket, but if a youngster is unable to attend at the time indicated he will be admitted at the other show provided there is a seat left.
Santa Claus will be on hand at each party to greet the youngsters and give a small bag of candy to each of them. The Rotary Club expects a crowd of at least 1500 kids to attend the two parties.
The films and the theatre are being furnished through the courtesy of Mrs. Frank Silva, theatre manager. The doors will open approximately one half hour prior to each show. Rotarians will direct children into the theatre at each party, and the theatre staff will be on hand to aid the direction.
General chairmen are Fred Rosa and Joe J. Silva.
The Rotary Christmas party goes back a good many years when the organization first visited the schools and gave candy to pupils in each of the rooms.
