1200 Children to Be Feted at Lions-Rotary Christmas Party
Santa Claus, Free Show At Theatre
The annual Kiddies' Christmas party, with Santa Claus, candy, fruit, novelty gifts and a big free movie show is scheduled for the children of the Los Banos community Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 23, under sponsorship of the Los Banos Rotary and Lions Clubs in cooperation with the Del Rio Theatre.
Free tickets for the party have been distributed to all grammar school students in the Los Banos, Volta, Charleston and Hamburg Camp schools, and any visiting children or local children of preschool age who wish to attend may secure free tickets by applying at the theatre window.
Two shows have been arranged to handle the large crowd expected, the first starting at 12:00 noon; the second at 2:15 p.m. Each party will be identical, and the tickets have been divided as evenly as possible to insure a fairly equal crowd at both shows. Tickets given the children by their teachers are good only at the show specified.
Dave Bolton, owner of the Del Rio Theatre, is contributing the free use of the theatre for the afternoon and is supplying the film, "Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch," plus two animated cartoons. The Rotary and Lions Clubs are supplying the candy and nuts and a small surprise gift for each youngster.
Santa Claus will arrive at the theatre immediately following the first movie showing and with the assistance of Rotary and Lions committee members, will distribute the gifts personally.
A. P. Machado and Ernest Petrocelli are co-chairmen of the Rotary-Lions committee. Other members include J. A. Enos, J. J. Silva, Mike Dambrosio, Jerome Cyr, Sam Spina, Sam Benidettino and Gene Bambauer. A group of high school girls will give Santa a hand tomorrow afternoon when they will make up the packages of candy and fruit under the direction of Mr. Benidettino.
