Scout Representative Tells Of Jamboree
Bud Lee, Boy Scout representative serving the West Side area of the Yosemite Council, addressed members of the Rotary Club Tuesday noon, telling of the coming National Boy Scout Jamboree to be held at Valley Forge, Pa. next July. Lee said that at least four Los Banos boys are planning to make the trip, with the proviso they are able to earn at least part of the necessary travel expense money beforehand.
It is planned to charter a special Jamboree train from California, with a maximum of 275 boys, including a contingent of 40 youths from Hawaii. The train would go first to New Orleans, then New York, Washington D.C. and hence to the Jamboree where they would be encamped for six big days. Enroute home the train would stop briefly for a tour through the Rocky Mountain area and a trip to the top of famed Pike's Peak, near Colorado Springs.
Lee said there will be more than 50,000 boys attending the Jamboree, including Scouts from all sections of the world.
In conjunction with his talk, Lee showed movies of the last National Scout Jamboree held four years ago in California.
