Tigers, Hughson Lead Off In Gustine Tourney

Gustine Rotary Club's 14th annual high school invitational Basketball Tournament got underway Thursday afternoon in the Gustine High School gym with Hughson and Los Banos leading off at 4:30 o'clock.

The tournament will be capped Saturday night with teams vying for the championship and consolation brackets. Quintets will tip off in the championship contest at 9:30 p.m. and consolation game will start at 6:30 p.m., with the action for third place set for 8:00 p.m.

Schedule for other first round games Thursday were as follows: Patterson met Hilmar at 6:00 p.m., Newman and LeGrand clashed at 7:30 p.m. and Gustine and Carmel played at 9:00 p.m.

If Los Banos reaches the winner's bracket, they will play the winner of the Newman-LeGrand game tonight at 6:00 p.m. A loss would put them in the consolation schedule with a game with the loser of the Newman-LeGrand contest at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
