Toys Available For Needy Children
Approximately $135 worth of Christmas toys and children's gifts are being added to Santa's bag by the local Rotary Club for distribution to needy children in this community. W. H. Sloan, chairman of the Los Banos Red Cross Chapter, states that this should be more than ample to care for any needs. In fact, he said that at the present time the Red Cross has fewer cases of real need on record than for many years past, and distribution of the 65 or 70 gifts is quite apt to prove a real problem to find sufficient homes here where the children will not be provided for.
He asks that anyone in the community who knows of any children who may not otherwise have a proper Christmas to notify him at once, giving the name and sex of child, age and address. Sloan says the gifts are to be distributed without prejudice of race, religion or position to any family within the local area.
The Rotary club has planned the gathering of the toys as a sort of Christmas party, each member to purchase a children's gift not to exceed $2, to present to some other member at the club luncheon next Tuesday. Each recipient will admire and enjoy "his" gift for a few minutes, then turn it over to Santa to give out to needy children.
