Jann Elizabeth Skurja, 51


Jann Elizabeth Skurja died Feb. 4 at St. Agnes Medical Center in Fresno. She was 51.

Mrs. Skurja was born in Ohio to parents John and Annette McCann on June 25, 1953. She grew up in Menlo Park where she attended school, and later graduated from Grande Junior College. She married Chuck Skurja on Dec. 20, 1975. They had two sons, Daniel, born in 1984 and Jordan, born in 1986. She served as secretary and president of the Children’s Home Society of California. Mrs. Skurja and her family moved to Los Banos in 1989. She became very involved with Playdaze Preschool, and when her children entered Our Lady of Fatima School she dedicated much of her time and energy to the school. Mrs. Skurja became a Realtor in 1992 and worked for Prudential California Realty for 12 years. She was the sales manager there. She deeply loved her job, clients and co-workers. She also volunteered her time and energy to work for Memorial Hospital, Los Banos as a board member. She was instrumental in the creation of the Memorial Hospital Foundation. Mrs. Skurja was a member of the Los Banos Rotary Club, the California Association of Realtors, the Los Banos Chamber of Commerce and the Cresthills Architectural Review Committee. She had a passion for life and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Mrs. Skurja is survived by her husband Charles Skurja of Los Banos; her sons Daniel and Jordan Skurja of Los Banos; and her brother Jim McCann of Fall River Mills.

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1621 Center Avenue in Los Banos on Feb. 18 at 11a.m. The Rev. Wayne Hayes will officiate. Burial will be in Los Banos District Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Memorial Hospital Los Banos Foundation, Memorial Hospital Los Banos, 520 West I St. Los Banos, 93635, attention Valerie McNight; or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 462, Los Banos 93635.
