Furnish Rotary Program
It was Lions Club Day
at the Rotary Club Tuesday noon as Lion John Torre presented to the Rotary group
Kenneth Marsi, a local high school junior who last Thursday won top honors in
a student speakers’ contest sponsored by the Lions.
Marsi’s
address, on the topic “My Responsibility as a Young American to Lasting
World Peace,” was well received by the Rotarians, as was Lion Torre’s
explanation of the contest. Torre explained that some 6,000 high school students
throughout California and Nevada are competing in the contest, with a $350 scholarship
award to the final winner.
Torre said the zone elimination contest would
be held in Los Banos on the evening of March 19 with at least six schools to be
represented. All members of the Rotary Club were invited to attend this program.
