Los Banos Rotary Club History
Rotary
Officers Are Installed
G. H. Loosmore, district
manager of the Coast Counties Gas and Electric Co., was installed as president
of the Los Banos Rotary Club Tuesday noon, accepting the gavel from retiring president,
C. T. Kaljian. At the same time T. D. Toscano took over J. R. Cerini’s old
job as sergeant-at-arms, and John B. Machado became club treasurer, succeeding
Jos. A. Enos. Chas. Alden retains his position as secretary, and Mrs. Alden will
continue as club pianist.
In a brief summary of the year, Alden reported
that at the beginning of last year the club had 55 members, of whom four had moved
away during the 12 month period. Ten new members were taken in, bringing the present
membership to 61. Baby member of the club is Chas. “Chuck” Bates,
local accountant, who was welcomed into the organization Tuesday by President
Kaljian.
During the past year, Alden stated, visitors from 17 different
Rotary Clubs had attended meetings in Los Banos, while local members have visited
in Rotary Clubs throughout the country. Attendance, he said, has been held at
a high average, and there are only 13 members of the club who do not have at least
one year of perfect attendance.
On the eve of his retirement, Kaljian
reminisced briefly on the year’s activities and expressed his thanks to
the club members for their cooperation and interest shown.
