Rotary
club plants 50 trees
Rhonda Lowe
The
Los Banos Rotary Club recently purchased 50 Chinese Pistache trees to be planted
in areas throughout the community. The first 25 trees were planted along Page
Avenue in front of the high school on Saturday. The remaining trees will be planted
at Talbott Park and at the junior high school.
The trees are the result
of a grant from the Rotary District 5220 as part of the “Preserve Planet
Earth Tree Project.” The 15-gallon trees have vibrant red leaves in the
Spring. They can have a spread of 25 feet and reach a height of up to 40 feet.
The school district grounds crew prepared the holes and provided manpower
in the planting process.
