Speaker Says UNO Is Hope of World
Speaking of
the Rotary Club luncheon Tuesday noon, L. J. Spindt, local high school principal
and past president of the club, said that in his opinion the United Nations Organization
today represents the world’s greatest and almost only hope for continued
peace. If the United Nations Organization does not succeed, Spindt said, the world
is inevitable headed toward another conflict that can end only with almost complete
destruction of the civilized world.
Spindt outlined the principles of the
UNO charter and explained the manner in which it operates Commenting on present
tension and unrest throughout the world, Spindt expressed the belief that all
nations will nevertheless be able to work out a peaceful settlement and eventually
work out a satisfactory basis for living among each other.
Rotary Secretary
Alden reported at length on activities of a recent meeting of club directors,
which included payment of bills, plans for an attendance contest with Gustine
some time this spring, and approval of a resolution to sponsor some local boy
to attend the American Legion’s annual Boys’ State conclave in Sacramento
this summer.
